BP Oil recognises Depisa as the company with the safest record in 2018
The multinational BP Oil has awarded Depisa a prize for achieving good safety results at its Castellón plant in 2018. BP Oil highlighted Depisa “as the company with the safest record in 2018”, and subsequently awarded the first prize.
In an event held on 20 June, the chief of the BP Oil refinery in Castellón, Francisco Quintana, handed over a commemorative plaque in recognition of his excellent safety work to Carlos Blasco, manager of Depisa’s Business Unit in Levante. Blasco said that “this latest recognition reinforces the company and its workers’ commitment to safety, our biggest goal when undertaking any project.”
It is not the first time that BP Oil Spain has acknowledged the hard work and good results that Depisa has attained in safety. This year, two Depisa workers at this plant were praised for their role in occupational risk prevention and their proactive, co-operative attitude when detecting and communicating possible safety improvements.
Depisa has been working as a contractor at the BP Oil refinery in Castellón since 1974. Since then, it has participated in all the new projects and performed plant and storage tank maintenance.
The Castellón BP Oil refinery, which began its operations in 1967, covers a 200-hectare surface area and has almost 500 employees, plus over 660 contractors and 2,000 indirect workplaces. It’s the only BP (British Petroleum) group refinery in Spain and supplies 85% of fuel demand in the Valencian and Balearic Island Communities.
